The Catholic community mourns the loss of Rev. Fr. Herbert Kalathil OCD, who died on September 3, 2025, at 74 years of age in Kerala. A prominent member of the Discalced Carmelites’ Manjummel Province, Fr. Herbert dedicated his life to priestly education and liturgical studies, earning recognition throughout India’s seminaries and philosophy colleges. The beloved priest and scholar will be laid to rest on Friday, September 5, at 2:30 PM, with funeral services taking place at the Immaculate Conception Church in Manjummel, Kochi.
OCD മഞ്ഞുമേൽ പ്രൊവിൻസ് അംഗവും പ്രഗത്ഭനായ പുരോഹിതനും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ വിദഗ്ധനുമായ ഫാ. ഹെർബർട്ട് കലത്തിൽ OCD 2025 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 3-ന് തന്റെ 74-ആം വയസ്സിൽ കർത്താവിൽ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശവസംസ്കാരം സെപ്റ്റംബർ 5 വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച ഉച്ചകഴിഞ്ഞ് 2:30-ന് കൊച്ചിയിലെ മഞ്ഞുമേൽ ഇമ്മാകുലേറ്റ് കൺസെപ്ഷൻ ചർച്ചിൽ നടക്കും. പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി പൗരോഹിത്യ രൂപീകരണത്തിലും ആരാധനാക്രമ പഠനങ്ങളിലും സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ച ഫാ. ഹെർബർട്ട് ഇന്ത്യയിലുടനീളമുള്ള സെമിനാരികളിലും ദർശനശാസ്ത്ര കോളേജുകളിലും ബഹുമാനിക്കപ്പെട്ട വ്യക്തിത്വമായിരുന്നു.
