May 11, 2024 Pope Francis has appointed Rev Dr. Antony Valumkal as the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Verapoly.

Pope Francis has appointed Fr. Antony Valumkal as the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Verapoly. Currently serving as the Rector and Parish Priest of the National Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Ransom in Vallarpadom, Kochi, Fr. Valumkal was born on July 26, 1969, in Eroor, within the Archdiocese of Verapoly. He pursued his studies in Philosophy and Theology at St. Joseph’s Pontifical Institute of Theology and Philosophy in Alwaye, Kerala, and was ordained a priest on April 11, 1994, for the same Archdiocese.
